International Education Week (IEW) is an annual, week-long event celebrated during the third week of November by over 100 countries around the world. IEW is an initiative under the Council of Minister of Education, Canada and is recognized by other provincial/territorial governments and various non-governmental organizations active in international education.
IEW provides an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the rich variety of innovative programs and activities that expose students to an international dimension; enriching their learning and preparing them for global citizenship.
Stay tuned for stories about the celebrations happening at some of our GHSD schools who are celebrating IEW with special events.
For IEW 2014, students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 are invited to participate in the Think Globally Photography Contest to capture and showcase aspects of Alberta's rich and broad culture in their community.
Students of top selected photos will receive a prize package and have their entries displayed at the Alberta Legislature Building during Education Week (May 4-8, 2015). Photograph submissions may also be presented to visiting foreign delegations by the Government of Alberta.
